Hi,
I am currently doing my MBA here on a H4 visa. I want to know if I would be eligible to apply for the H1 Visa ( in the 20,000 quota) without converting to
F1 status. Please advise.

You woulkd be eligible provided you have completed your MBA. If you are still working on it then you would not be considered an advanced Degree HOLDER.

I have filed my i-485 application with Vermont Service Center sometimes in 2003 or 2004 (do not remember, was a long time ago). The case was transferred to Texas Service Center in March 2007.
I just spoke to the USCIS customer service, and they told me that once case is transferred, the "receipt" date changes to the transfer date. So, due to the "improved service within the TX center" (as USCIS claims), all people who were waiting for adjustment of status and were transferred to the TX are screwed again. On the other hand, people who filed with the TX service center in 2006 retain their original "receipt" date.

P.S. my priority date was current for the past 2 months, however there is still no GC in sight.

1. I got laid off from company A last year. I was on H1B. Company A notified me about 1 month in advance so I had some time to find another job. I also had a valid EAD which I wasn't using at that time. They also did not cancel I-140.
2. I joined Company B using my EAD within the 30 day period, so I never went out of status. Also, I didn't file AC21
3. My GC application was approved in the first week of Aug.
I have a couple of really interesting opportunities that I would like to pursue. My job profile has been similar at both A and B and will likely be similar even in C should I join there. Am I required to work at B for any specific period of time before I can pursue these opportunities?

Ok for a long time I have been thinking about getting enrolled in a Phd program and this year I was hoping I get a chance to chase my dream after having the GC... well it did not work the way I thought/planed and now I want to weigh my options.
here are my details:
EB2 I with PD Sep 2005
Primary Applicant
currently on H1B

So my questions is:

I am pursuing part-time MBA while working for a company which has sponsored my GC. I am on EAD based on EB3 filing with PD of March 2005.
I plan to do a summer internship (10-12 weeks) at another company and need to understand the risks. This internship would be 40-hr/week so I will have to either
* quit my job and then search for another full-time job after internship is over, or
* take a Leave of Absence (LoA) for 3 months and come back to my current job
The first option is obviously very risky so I am inclined towards the second option though I don't know if my employer will grant me LoA. Could you please advice me whether doing an internship will be an issue later when my PD becomes current.

My attorney sent in EAD renewal applications for me and my spouse. We got a receipt from USCIS yesterday with a MSC receipt number with some information on scheduling biometrics. I called my attorney and asked him about the same. He said that this is normal as he did the right thing by sending our application to a lock box address in Chicago. We are wisconsin residents. Please advise if this is fine to get a recipet notice from the Missouri service center address.

Hello, I apologyze for not giving my name away first of all, secondly I need to know what my options are if my father and mother who are permanent residents in the USA can file an I-130 for me? They obtained their legal status thru the department of labor but at the time they were approved I was already 21 years of age (the whole process started in 2000and lasted for 5 years or so); one lawyer told me that I cannot do anything since I was over 21 but I just have been in a different lawyer who told me that yes I can adjust my status thank to a grandfather law that can help me to achieve my goal in working legally in this country. I am an unmarried daughter and 27 years of age at this time.
I just don't want to spend those $5,500 can this lawyer is asking me for his services, I appreciate very much your replies and my family will too
